Are you confused because your lecturer rattles points off a PowerPoint presentation and now, you have no clue what “pools” and “fluxes” in an ecosystem mean?
Do you wonder why you should even care about pools or fluxes or food chains or ecosystems?
To pass your exams or complete an assignment? Of course! That is important.
But could there be something more?
Have you wondered if there’s more to being eco-friendly than turning off lights and taking the stairs?
If you have…
You’re in the right place.
The key to enhance nature—or at least, harm it less than we now do—is understanding nature.
We are here to unravel the complex field of environmental sciences so you can understand how nature works, how it affects you and you affect nature in turn.
We discuss the environmental movement and encourage you to be a part of it.
We do this with the most powerful tool every invented by humans.
Our mission is to help you learn at least one new thing about the environment today.
We hope this knowledge can help you pass your exams, complete your assignments, discuss the environmental crisis with your loved ones and take steps to improve the natural world.
If you leave our website with a better understanding of the natural world or the tools to positively impact the natural world or both, we will have achieved a small part of our vision:
To make the world ecologically intelligent.
Or as we call it…
Browse the Menu, explore the Home Page or Search for what your mood fancies!
You will find…
…posts on climate change, natural resources management, disaster management, environmental law and policy, ecology, sustainability and so much more on this environment blog.
We share information and our thoughts through stories, which can take many forms:
- Real-life analogies
- Case studies
- Opinion pieces
- Features about organizations and companies doing some exceptional work
(Some of our posts may not fit any of these story types, and have been written as if they are notes for exams. That’s because for the longest time, Eco-intelligent was a resource material for environmental science students. In the last one year, we have broadened our scope and have decided to aim for a higher vision. We are in the process of revamping old posts, so bear with us!)
In September 2015, Eco-intelligent began as a simple collection of letters addressed to the world on the gross environmental degradation occurring in the world. There was no agenda or dream; it was just a way to “vent”. (Some of these letters are still online, just search for “letters to the 21st century humans.)
In September 2016, when Saurab enrolled for a Master’s degree in Environment Management, the blog became an efficient way to record additional course material that could be of use to his classmates and other environmental science students in India and the world.
As the audience and appreciation grew, the blog evolved to what it is today: a platform for readers to understand natural processes and learn to live in tune with these processes. We are a part of the ecosystem.
