In the latest news from Delhi’s crazy haze, schools have decided to close for the next three days because of the unbearable smog. The situation remains critical, with many people complaining of burning eyes and retching tastes when they step outside.
Kids can celebrate their extra holidays by staying put inside their houses. This is ridiculous. The situation isn’t likely to improve in the next few days, as the forecast suggests continually low temperatures in the city.
The other day, my dad was scared of driving on the roads because the visibility was almost zero on the famous ITO bridge of Delhi. Even headlights didn’t make much of a difference. So, the air is not just killing us directly; the smog has increased the chances of a road accident by manifold. In a city like Delhi where rash-driving is to be expected at all time, this is not a good sign.
The situation has gone out of hand, and the people of the city and the government really, really need to take some drastic measures. “Things have to get a lot worse before they become better” they say. Guess what, it is as bad as it can get now.
And why wouldn’t it be ? People want to burst crackers – already adding to the pollution caused by burning rice and wheat stalks ! I hope now people will understand that their actions matter ..
And nicely written 👌👌
